memtest86 still doesn't compile with gcc-33 / AthlonXP
(probably on any i686+). Maybe we can at least agree not
to compile it when neither gcc-2 not gcc-3 is present?
Compiled/tested with -1946, applies to -2037.

This patch enables Linux kernel directory notifications (dnotify) for KDE 3.1.
dnotify is a really nice feature and basically allows applications to be
notified of changes to (files in) selected directories. It is especially
useful for a local file browser (eg. Konqueror, but also KDE open/save
dialogs) to immediately show new or deleted files in a directory. I have
never compiled KDE without it in the last years.

A quick scan with grep showed these mkdir -p commands in packages that can be
removed because these directories are created in 00-dirtree.

Written by me to link bash against libreadline.so, this
option worked while both libreadline.{a,so*} were in /lib
(well it never actually worked, ncurses failed). Now that
.so is in /lib and .a in /usr/lib, bash is always linked
against .a, so the option desn't make any sense - the .a
included in bash works just as well.

the /etc/hosts rewrite is disabled, because I do not yet have an idea how
to implement it without a static IP address ...
