  22. [I] Utilities for managing the laptop modeof kernels >2.6.6
  23. [T] The Linux kernel, starting from version 2.6.6, contains a feature called
  24. [T] laptop mode. This feature is also present in the Linux 2.4 series starting from
  25. [T] version 2.4.23. When you enable this feature, Linux allows your hard drive to
  26. [T] spin down more often, resulting in significant power savings.
  27. [T] Unfortunately, to make laptop mode work, you need to install some scripts and
  28. [T] configure some things. The Laptop Mode Tools package is a convenience package,
  29. [T] it contains everything you need to work with laptop mode. The kernel
  30. [T] documentation used to contain up-to-date scripts but they are currently
  31. [T] unmaintained; I recommend using laptop-mode-tools instead.
